Mobile App Development in JavaScript -- Three Minute Tutorial

February 3, 2015 | 1 min Read

If you have three minutes and access to an iOS or Android device, you can develop your first cross platform, native, mobile application with JavaScript, using Tabris.js.

1. Request an invite to Tabris.js

Ok, this might take a few minutes, but if you request an invite and ping me on twitter to let me know, I’ll do my best to process it quickly for you.

2. Install the Developer App

To help you get started, we have created a developer app that will automatically run your Tabris.js scripts. The developer app is available in both the App Store and the Google Play store. Once installed, you can login with your GitHub credentials.

3. Login to tabrisjs.com and write your first script

Once you login to tabrisjs.com, you will be presented with a scratchpad. Make changes to the default script or cut & paste one of our snippets.

4. Run the script

Start the developer app on your device (and make sure you are logged in with your GitHub credentials). Choose My Scripts and select My Scratchpad. This will download your script and execute it directly on your device.

So go ahead and give native mobile application development with JavaScript a try. And of course, please let us know what you think!
