Tabris 0.8.0 – New and Noteworthy

October 19, 2012 | 2 min Read

A few days before the start of EclipseCon Europe 2012, we are releasing version 0.8.0 of Tabris. If you have the chance to visit EclipseCon Europe, just ask us for a demo or visit our Tabris talk and workshop right away.

Added support for camera and image picking

After the video support in Tabris 0.7.0 we now introduce support for local cameras on mobile devices. It enables you to take a photo with the main or front-facing camera of your phone or tablet. Instead of taking a new image with the camera, you can also select an image from your local gallery. The camera widget then sends the image to the server which can process it in an arbitrary way (e.g.include it in the UI as can be seen in the Android Tabris Demos).

Configurable keyboard layouts

Text widgets now support a custom variant to display one of the following keyboard layouts to support the user when typing the input text: ASCII, Decimal, E-Mail, Numbers, Numbers & Punctuation, Phone, URL.

iOS 6 Support

With version 0.8.0 of Tabris we support iOS 6 and the new screen size of the iPhone 5.

Many bugs have been fixed again for this release. It is the best Tabris yet.

Go and grab the Tabris SDK from the download page to get started.
