EclipseCon North America - here we come

March 14, 2014 | 3 min Read

EclipseCon North America is just around the corner! This time we’re back in San Francisco, same location we have used for the second EclipseCon conference almost 10 years ago.

The EclipseSource team is having a strong presence with a number of hands on tutorials and talks, not bombarding you with slides, rather providing demos and live coding that really show you how to do stuff.

On Monday we start with a talk that’s already generating some good hype. You’ll be impressed with what can be done with Responsive Design for SWT, as we show you ways to create responsive SWT layouts, dynamic images, font adjustments etc. There will also be a tutorial on software development in e4, an introduction to EMF and hands-on exploration of running an application on Eclipse Virgo.

Monday, March 17, 2014 09:00 to 12:00 Creating responsive SWT applications with RAP 09:00 to 12:00 What every Eclipse developer should know about Eclipse 4 (e4) 13:00 to 16:00 What every Eclipse developer should know about EMF 13:00 to 16:00 Getting started with Eclipse Virgo

On the second day, Ian Bull together with Google’s Shawn Pearce will take a look at the Gerrit Plugin API. If you’re not yet in love with EMF, the session Getting married with EMF aims at changing your mind. Nice thing is - you don’t need to get divorced from other Eclipse technologies.

On Wednesday our team has 3 talks lined up. First, Jonas Helming will present the basics of Model-Driven-Development of user interfaces with a focus on commercial applications and lessons learned. Later we will show you how to do the impossible and create a lightweight software lab in the cloud in just 3 days! To close the day, Markus Knauer will deliver his lightning talk “Web-based Business UIs with RAP and EMF” as part of the Modeling Symposium.
