I started at part two and the slides never change in the presentation though the audio keeps going. This would have been fine except in the presentation you reference things that are suppose to be on the screen but are not because the slides never change from the first. I did not watch the others so I am unable to comment.

  2. Philipp Kursawe says:

I was especially interested in the last part as there are basically NO tutorials out there of how to handle the p2 beast. Would be nice to see the required infrastructure to setup such “push” updating with p2. Although I feel that Eclipse RCP is not ready for hot replacement of bundles yet. Most parts of the workbench can not handle dynamic additions of extensions well.

  3. Adam, we had some technical difficulties during that part of the presentation, the other parts should be fine. Sorry for the troubles, we tried to the best we could offering a free online webinar.

Phil, the “RCP” stack of Eclipse is dynamic aware. The “IDE” stack isn’t fully dynamic aware. Is that what you’re seeing?

  4. Philipp Kursawe says:

Chris, maybe you could offer the PDF slides of the presentations additionally?
What I am experiencing is that when I stop and restart bundles that for instance contribute functionality to an RCP UI weird things can happen. I guess I would have to fully uninstall the bundles and reinstall to get it work as expected. But then there is also this “Configuration changed. Restart workbench? Yes | No | Apply Now”. I know there was a blog about it recently.
It would be really nice to understand P2 better and how it can be used to dynamically add functionality to our RCP apps. But since its poorly documented this will take some time. Do you have any tips on how to start or can offer the configuration your demo app was using?

  5. Andrea Zoppello says:

    Hi Chris,

    Thx for that course.

It would be a great for me too to have the PDF slides? It’s possible to find somewhere?

  6. Sorry, at the moment, we aren’t making the slides available.

  7. Andrea Zoppello says:

    Chris,

If you’re not going to make the presentation available free for all… would you consider to give as a “compendium” within the Equinox Book for the book customers?

I’m interested in this because I bought the book preview from Safari :-)

  8. The link on part 6 is broken. Can you post an updated link?

  9. I posted an updated link, thanks for the catch Hamlet.
