We extended the P2 installer of the EPP Wizard with proxy support. Now it should work for proxies that need full authentication. There is a blog how to use the new feature http://eclipsesource.com/blogs/2009/09/09/epp-wizard-with-extended-proxy-support/. Feedback is welcome.

Yepp, the EPP Wizard is still alive and since we updated it to Galileo and Eclipse 3.5 versions, this is again the time to promote it. If we can put this on the main Eclipse download page depends on several things, but it won't replace our EPP packages that are already there. What we really need is feedback and reports about its stability (or instability).

Cedric, good to hear that it was working for you. The combination of the p2 installer and the different p2 repositories is sometimes a bit fragile. In order to get it more stable we mirrored the required RC4 repositories and if you use the wizard from epp.eclipsesource.com you are using *only* our environment.

If you go to http://build.eclipse.org/eppwizard/go you will get the very same installer using the Eclipse mirrors. These are currently updated every week, sometimes even more often, and this 'moving target' makes it sometimes difficult to install.

Glad to see the EPP wizard is alive and kicking! The webstart installer is looking good too. Any news on a schedule for "official deployment" (esp. regarding Galileo)?

Do you intend to make this process the default process to download and distribute Eclipse ? Used together with shared bundle pooling mode, it would ease so much Eclipse installation while optimizing disk space.

This is what I've been waiting for since the very first moment I discovered P2 ! Awesome work. Trying it right now :) I'm also trying to install in shared bundle pooling mode.

What's more, this is not related directly to EPP, but in P2 Installer, being able to select the bundle pool location would be great.

Kind regards,

Cédric
