As a Riena committer, it’s always nice to see people taking interest in Riena. Feedback  at EclipseCon has been very positive. I was also impressed by  RedView – a UI-generator based on EMF and Riena, which is becoming available soon.

Now James Sugrue wrote “Riena – A New Adventure in Eclipse” over on DZone.

The article introduces Riena, walks you through installation, shows how to create and theme an application and explains Riena’s remote services. Go check it out.

Kind regards,
Elias.

I have not yet dived into the details but is the Riena remote services implementation compatible to the Distributed OSGi spec in version 4.2?!? Can those remote services also be accessed via JMX console, or are there other ways?!?

    Cheers Matthias

  2. Hi Matthias,

I assume you refer to RFC 119. Currently (Apr 2009) Riena Remote Services is different than distributed OSGi, but we plan to look and experiment with it, in the context of work done in ECF. See this discussion.

On JMX: AFAIK there is no integration but feel free to voice your suggestions on the Riena Newsgroup.

    Elias.
