on Nov 21st, 2008Equinox OSGi book on Rough Cuts

The first chunk of the Equinox OSGi book is now on Safari Rough Cuts. This is about 1/3rd of the total content and includes some intro material, the first few chapters of the tutorial and then a few deep dive chapters (Declarative Services, Dynamic best practices, …).

The idea of Rough Cuts is both to get the content out early so we don’t have to wait for the whole paper publishing process to churn and to get your feedback on both the form and the content.  The text may be a bit rough (ah, that’s why they call it Rough Cuts) but hopefully the ideas are clear.  Check it out and let us know what you think.  You can leave comments at the Rough Cuts site. Also, check out the book blog.  We’ll post info there from time to time.

We should have the code samples up soon in a form that you can use easily…

I believe there are several options available through Safari for how to access the book. Check out http://my.safaribooksonline.com/9780321561510#purchaseroughcuts for details.

Thanks Jeff. I bought the rough cut version. It looks really nice and comprehensible. Thanks for your effort.

Additionally – The book mentions that the sample code is available at http://equinoxosgi.org , however, http://equinoxosgi.org/book gives http 404 error. Is there any alternate location that i can use to download the code sample used in the book

Thanks for your feedback. Keep it coming. We are working on getting the latest code on the site. It will be a couple weeks however as the Eclipse release is coming up and there are a number of things to do. I will blog here when the code is up.
