Hi Imam,

thanks for your comment.

I think it is also possible to use 'osgi.noShutdown=true' in the config.ini file. It should have the same effect as the '-noexit' command line argument.

Best regards,
Elias.

David Donohue,
I was also facing the same problem "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/xml/sax/SAXException" what you faced when running OSGI web application as plugin using following

java -Dlog4j.debug -jar org.eclipse.osgi_3.3.0.v20070530.jar -configuration configuration -consoleLog -debug -clean -dev -console

After spending number hours I by chance see your comments through google and then deploy my struts web OSGI plugin as Feature the way Elie showed in this cast. I am glad that it resolved my problem.

One small issue I would like to mention that Elie didn't mention in his cast, on some OS using only eclipse -console doesn't keep open the console window. To overcome I did google and came to know there is another switch called -noexit for running eclipse. With this argument eclipse window keep open. so the full command is :
eclispe -console -clean -noexit

Once again thank you very much Elie for such a beautiful web cast

I was at home when i saw your reply and i tried to follow your instructions. I installed the rap plug-in and i made a feature for the workbench demo from the eclipse site.
I then wrote a ConfigIniCreator class and it seemed to work fine all the way.
I was so pumped that i went at my office that very day(althought it was saturdy and i don't work the weekends ) to deploy my real application.

I followed exact the same steps but with no different outcome :(

This is strange but i will try it again and i'll write you back if i cannot get the job done.

I really appreciate that you've taken the time to provide me with a solution.

Best regards!

Ovidiu

Hi Ovidiu,

check that your bundles are listed in the osgi.bundles property in config.ini. The easiest way to fix this is to use the ConfigIniCreator.java to create the config.ini.

Let me know if this helped,
Elias.

Hi guys!

I have a problem finishing all the steps of this tutorial.

I made my config.ini file and all but when i execute the "eclipse.exe -console" command there's only the osgi> prompter and when i execute the "ss" command i get this:

osgi> ss

Framework is launched.

id State Bundle
0 ACTIVE org.eclipse.osgi_3.4.0.v20080605-1900

osgi>

I know there must be a log file where i can see the problem but i don't have any /workspace folder in the deployment folder.
I saw in the video that the workspace appears from nowhere. How do i get to see the error log?

As i've mentioned before,i made every step as shown in the video until the execution of the "eclipse.exe -console" command.

I really need help with this.

Regards

Ovi

Hi Elias,

I took another look at this after a break of a few days, and the HTTP Error 500 was due to me having renamed the Entrypoint to calc. Now everything works fine. So I suspect the only change needed for version 3.4 of the tutorial is with the createUI() method in CalculatorApplication. Thanks again. I'm about to start Part II.

paulmcdee
